We
were required to create an online photo blog in a group of five people. In this
online blog we were to document our place of interest, which is Petaling street
commonly known as Chin Town and the area surrounding, in the following aspects:
People, Food, Activities and Cultural Conservation on Buildings. The blog had
to contain 25 to 30 photos and each photo was to have a caption of about 20 to
30 words.
The Learning outcomes of this blog is to apply
the principles of communication and behaviour in analyzing interaction with
others, both at individual and at group levels, and also to
be aware of the importance of cultural differences and respect cultural
differences. More over we were to build healthy and positive relationships with
fellow students. Finally, we were to communicate the relevant ideas in a clear, logical and appropriate academic
English.
After visiting Petaling Street I was able to understand
the culture of the people in this area in a different perspective. To create
this online photo blog I was able to communicate and build a strong relationship
my fellow group mates, and we it helped to advance our visual creativity. This
assignment helped me to interact with people from different culture and
backgrounds and helped me look in to the world around me from different perspectives.

Project 2: Oral Presentation
We were to
produce a video presentation based on traditional dwellings around the world.
The historical background of the country, structure and layout, types of
ornamentation used and the types of materials used were to be described in the
presentation. We chose to describe the three different types of Tradition Thai
house.

Reflection
The learning outcomes intended for this assignment were to apply the

Through
this oral presentation, I really enjoyed myself
while working on this project because I really like interacting and working
with people as a group. From this project, I learnt that to work well with
other members is crucial to make the project a successful one. My members and I
coordinated really well making this video. Through our group
discussions, our relationship as a group was strengthened. Through the research
I conducted for my part of the assignment, I was able to understand the basis of
traditional Thai houses. Through the research conducted by my group mates, my
understanding of these homes was expanded further as well.

Project 3: Comic Strip
For this
final assignment, we were required to create a 3 A3 size comic strip that
describes events related to our daily life, special occasions and events in
campus. These comic strips were also to be based on one of the topics given
during lecture sessions of this module. We decided to base our comic strips on
the topic Conflict and Negotiation, Nonverbal Communication and Verbal Messages.

Reflection

This
was certainly an interesting assignment to undergo as it enabled me
to communicate at a group level and this enabled my communication skills
to improve tremendously. Through the generation of ideas with my group
mates, I was also able to express my creative side in coming up with a
storyline as well as a storyboard for this comic strip. Besides that, I
was also more aware of the importance of cultural differences and respect
cultural differences. I can also communicate the relevant ideas in a clear,
logical and appropriate academic English
